How Kimono Becomes SAISEI’s Clothings.

All SAISEI clothes are made to order based on the concept of “not wasting things and making clothes in an environmentally friendly way.”

Therefore, it takes approximately one month after the order and receiving the products.

Behind this, there are a number of “processes” involved in turning a kimono into clothing.

1. Receiving an Order Request

2. Unsewing kimono
To avoid damaging the kimono, each piece is carefully unraveled by hand, and made into a roll of fabric. This roll of fabric is usually a condition before the kimono is tailored.
As this process is very detailed, it takes about 2 to 3 hours to unravel one kimono.

3.Washing and Soaking
After washing, the fabric is soaked in water for about half a day, depending on the type of the fabric.
By soaking this untailored fabric will shrink as much as it can and can be worn without shrinking even if you wash it by yourself in the future.

4. Drying in the Shade
After soaking, this will be dried in the shade for several hours to half a day in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight, depending on the weather conditions. The time of drying varies depending on the weather.
(This process may finish earlier or later depending on the weather conditions)

5. Ironing
Carefully iron out wrinkles so that no wrinkles remain on each piece.
The process up to this point may take up to a week, depending on the weather.

6. Sewing Work Starts
We will sew the clothes of your chosen design.

7. Shipping Preparation
When the products are ready to be shipped, we will contact you.

8. Delivery to the Customer
Through the various processes up to this point, it takes about a month and SAISEI clothes are delivered to the customer.

There are various stories behind the making of a piece of clothing that are unique to kimono, and some kimonos have finally been worn after 10 or 20 years.

We hope that each and every piece of SAISEI clothing, made with care and attention, will become a product that will be loved for a lifetime.
